Dragon Coloring Pages
Dragon coloring pages for kids of all ages: a selection of the cutest, funniest, and most realistic dragons.
Dragon coloring pages are especially popular with boys ages 6 to 12, who are drawn to their mysterious powers and magical adventures. Girls often enjoy drawn dragons with big eyes and eyelashes. Dragons combine features of snakes and birds, and over time they have come to look more and more like playful toy characters for children.
Dragons are often seen as symbols of trials that must be overcome to gain something truly valuable. They are also frequently linked not only with fire, but with water, which they protect or keep from other creatures. Many ancient peoples honored the power of dragons and tried to appease them with sacrifices. The Maya and ancient Egyptians dressed up beautiful young women and cast them into the water, believing that the dragon would show mercy and allow them to use the water.
Christians, however, have traditionally viewed dragons negatively, seeing their origin as devilish. Still, it is worth remembering that dragons do not exist in real life, while fairy tales and dragon coloring pages are loved by children everywhere!
Dragon mythology is especially rich in Tibet. According to a Tibetan legend, long ago a hunter fell into a cave so deep that there was no way out. Inside the cave he saw a glowing dragon, and near it everything was bright and cozy. The hunter found a wonderful magical pearl, from which he drank crystal-clear dew and therefore did not die of thirst. When spring came, the dragon flew out of the cave with the hunter holding onto its tail. That is how the hunter survived and told everyone that dragons really exist.
No matter what ancient stories say about dragons, it is nice to imagine that they existed and were capable of human feelings such as kindness and loyalty. Otherwise, where would these magical legends have come from?
