The animated series first premiered on Cosmonautics Day in 2006. The date was chosen for a reason, since each episode follows the adventures of an extraterrestrial creature. The main character came to Earth from the Moon and settled near a mysterious lake. His arrival frightened the pond's residents and the surrounding forest creatures, but the curious and friendly moon bee tries to understand this new world and make friends. Over time, the bee family accepted Luntik, and the other residents grew to love him too. Together with the other characters, he explores the world around him and learns about relationships with both peers and elders. All of this is reflected in the Luntik and Friends coloring pages.

The main characters are children, although they are not ordinary kids: they are insects, amphibians, fish, and other animals. Together with Luntik, they look for the right solutions, make mistakes, take independent steps, learn life lessons, and grow up.

Luntik’s best friend is Kuzya the grasshopper: cheerful, energetic, resourceful, and very active. Unlike his friend, Kuzya likes to show off and argue, and he may go against adults. When he does something wrong, he is not quick to admit it. Still, he is willing to learn and improve.

Mila the ladybug is always polite to others, but she can be capricious and tearful. She likes to teach others, even though she is not always right, and she knows many fun games.

Pchelenok is the most diligent student at the bee school. He is quick, smart, and always busy with something. At the same time, he will not leave someone in trouble and treats elders with respect.

Vupsen and Pupsen are teenage brothers who treat the main character and his friends like little kids. Because of their poor manners and bad temper, they constantly get into trouble and even argue with each other. Despite their negative traits, they are talented and not without dreams. They very much want to become butterflies.
