Christmas Stocking Coloring Page
A Christmas stocking coloring page for gifts for little children, with an interesting legend, tips on what to put in the stocking, and how to make one yourself.
The Christmas symbol of stockings hanging on the fireplace for Father Frost is a very old tradition. Each child gets a personal stocking, and then Saint Nicholas puts gifts inside. Although the legend says that only obedient children who do not peek at their relatives receive presents, Saint Nicholas is so kind that he gives gifts to all children. If your house or apartment does not have a fireplace, the stocking is usually hung near the child’s bed.
An ancient legend also tells of sisters who lived in such poverty that they often had to go to bed hungry. Feeling sorry for the poor girls, Saint Nicholas threw gold coins down the chimney so the sisters would find them in the morning when they woke up. It so happened that the girls’ stockings were drying by the fireplace at the time, and the coins fell straight into them. The story spread quickly, and by the next Christmas Eve people were hanging Christmas stockings by the fireplace in hopes that something would fall into them too.
Tip: for coloring Christmas stocking pages, choose red and green colors. It is better to color the stockings themselves with paints, and use markers for the small details.
